While there is no official order for counting your hand. A post by John Chambers How to Count Your Hand recommends the following:

  1. Count all of your fifteens
  2. Count your runs
  3. Count pairs
  4. Count your flush
  5. Lastly, count nobs

Who is John Chambers? He’s one of the founding members of The American Cribbage Congress and the author of the book “Cribbage : A New Concept” which you can buy for the inexplicably high price of $209.26.
